The
1st Annual
Freedom Trailride will be held
April 4-6, 2008 at the
Hill
Country State Natural Area Chapa House. This
trailride will be a yearly event to benefit the Ft. Sam Fisher
House.
How does it work? We ask businesses,
organizations, clubs, private individuals, etc. to commit to donating a
certain amount of money for every mile ridden (from the overall total
of horses that show up). We are then inviting, asking, and - yes
- begging trailriders from all over to come out, join the fun, and
RIDE! The park has already mapped trails where the distance has
been pre-calculated. Every time a horse and rider ride a trail,
we will log it. We will then have sponsors to donate the amount
totaled from their commitment.
How long is the ride? Riders are welcome
on the Chapa House grounds any time after 3pm on Friday, April
4th. The Chapa House is reserved until noon on Sunday, April
6th. Riders usually come and go in small groups as they
please. A tentative schedule of events has been set up though to
help keep everything running smoothly:
